Minaret Station - Experience

Minaret Station in New Zealand’s Southern Alps can only be accessed by helicopter and offers one of the most life-changing experiences on Earth with only 4 incredibly luxurious tented rooms at the foot of a mile high Minaret mountain at the head of a stunningly picturesque glacial valley. There is nowhere quite like it.

Experience

There is so much to experience at Minaret Station; mountain biking, heli-mountain biking, hiking, heli-hiking, heli-skiing, fly-fishing, heli-fly-fishing, Alpine picnics in one of their old Shepherd huts or even at the peak of one of the mountain peaks, wild game spotting or heli-touring to places nobody else can get to. Minaret Station is also a working high country farm where 26,000 sheep, cattle and deer are farmed over its 65,000 acres so why not jump in the helicopter for a tour of the farm; get involved with cattle and sheep mustering to get an idea how this place works. You can do as much or as little as you want here. The Mountain Kitchen offers an incredible dining experience with amazing breakfasts, lunches, picnics and 3 course dinners using ingredients sourced from the local rivers, lakes and streams or beef, lamb and venison straight from the farm. There is an excellent selection of wines, notably some of the local Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris that the Otago region is known for.

Accommodation

There are only four luxuriously appointed tented suites complete with under-floor heating, wall-to-wall Minaret sheepskin carpets, super king beds with duvets and possum throws and ensuite facilities with double basin and endless hot water showers powered from the waterfall above the lodge. Each Suite comes complete with a private deck and hot tub to enjoy as the sun sets. The Mountain Kitchen in the central area houses the lounge, library and dining room with 2 roaring fireplaces and wine cellar; there is also an ample deck to serve meals al fresco.
