The perfect end to any day can be had at Eichardt's renowned Bar, with its comfortable sofas and cosy fireplace guests can soak up the old world charm whilst enjoying deliciously prepared cocktails, top shelf whisky or the extensive wine list offering Bollinger by the glass and a namesake pinot noir. In-house chef Will Eaglesfield presides over the kitchen, where the seafood chowder enjoys cult status. Delicacies such as whitebait on ciabatta with preserved lemon and chill or hare and duck rillettes use only the freshest produce and are some of the many reasons both locals and visitors flock to the address. For those after a night not easily forgotten, The Parlour located in the Hotel’s private wing also plays host to monthly dinners marrying local wine producers, guests and colourful locals alike. The Parlour also boasts a complimentary Whisky lounge where guests can help themselves to the selection of single malt scotch, brandy, bourbon or sherry as they plan their return trip. Discreet services include a concierge host, a house Landrover is available for guests to explore Central Otago and if the cocoon-like serenity of Eichardt’s is too tempting, qualified beauty and massage therapists can also be arranged for bedside pampering. There is much to experience in the surrounding areas; fly-fishing and heli-skiing, the country’s best hiking on the Routeburn or Milford Tracks, jet boating, kayaking, 4WD tours, mountain biking, horse riding, art trails ,wine trails, helicopter and light aircraft flights over the World Heritage Fjordland National Park and Milford Sound, sky diving and bungee jumping.
Accommodation
There are only five luxurious suites – three Lake View and two Mountain View – it is easy to see why some people don’t leave the confines of the four walls upon check in. Lake View suites have glorious views over Queenstown Bay and Lake Wakatipu while the two Mountain View suite options scan out across Queenstown Township and up to the Skyline Gondola. Each suite is elegantly appointed with a super king bed finished with platinum linen and a Possum fur throw, large dressing room and generous double bathroom. With room to move, these 80sqm-plus offers come complete with a lounge area featuring snug gas fireplace, soft furnishings and personal touches like the hand cut lilies found in each suite.
