Responsible Tourism
Going on holiday has never been easier and there are few corners of the world that are off limits. But along with the rise of accessible travel comes a more pressing concern - how ethical is your holiday?
Responsible and Sustainable tourism is tourism committed to having a low impact on the environment and community by acting responsibly while generating income and employment for the local community; aiming to ensure that economic development as a result of tourism has a positive impact on everyone involved; the local community, tourism businesses and visitors.
Mirus Journeys operates in some of the most remote, extraordinary and pristine destinations and we are 100% committed to preserving and sustaining this magnificent world we live in; sharing these amazing and exceptional areas with our guests while at the same time ensuring tourism contributes to the local communities, to the conservation of the world’s wilderness areas and the preservation of the world’s cultural heritage.
Many of the destinations we travel to are UNESCO World Heritage sites; places on Earth that are of outstanding universal value; sites such as the Taj Mahal in India, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. UNESCO strive to recognize and protect sites that are outstanding demonstrations of human coexistence with the land as well as human interactions, cultural coexistence, spirituality and creative expression.
Many of our partners are pioneers; Wilderness Safaris, though their Wilderness Wildlife Trust, is currently supporting 46 major projects within the categories of wildlife management, research and education of communities; our partners in Mongolia have singlehandedly funded the Golden Eagle Festival in the Bayan-Ulgii Province, located in the Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia to preserve the ancient culture of Mongolia’s Kazakh hunters; our partners in Southeast Asia have set up their own foundation whose prime objective is to raise awareness for and channel support to charitable projects in the region and to operate and build new grassroots initiatives focusing on the improvement of livelihoods, the empowerment of the disadvantaged and the conservation of the environment. These are just some examples of what we look for in our partners’ commitment to being reputable and honourable ecotourism allies.
"We are 100% committed to preserving and sustaining these magnificent Continents and islands"
