Right in the heart of bustling Vientiane, the capital of Laos, stands a remarkable hotel. Built in the early part of the last century, circa 1932, and painstakingly restored to its former imperial glory, the Settha Palace Hotel serves as a testament to the long lost era of classical elegance, gracious service and French colonial charm. Only a 10 minute drive from the airport it is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions.

Experiences

The  European-style fine dining restaurant and bar, La Belle Époque, is intimately tucked away in the Settha Palace Hotel. Classic chairs, warm décor and cosy seating create an ideal atmosphere in which to enjoy an exquisite French dinner complimented by a fabulous array of wines, or experience a seasonally-inspired Lao menu showcasing the delicious flavours of produce local to the area. For more casual dining the al fresco Sidewalk Café offers an inviting menu of International and Asian dishes, while the Poolside Bar serves light snacks and refreshments throughout the day.

There is much to experience in this friendly capital with its flowered filled streets, crumbling colonial mansions and delicious noodle stalls. From the Talat Sao, the morning market to the Mekong riverside and the Buddha Park which contains a collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures scattered amongst gardens and trees to Pha That Luang, one of the most famous Buddhist Stupas in Laos.

Accommodation

Once more owned by the same passionate family that ran the hotel in its heyday before the change of regime to Communism in 1975, no stone has been left unturned and no expense spared in the quest to bring this Vientiane landmark back to life. The French architecture, colonial décor, period furniture and large landscaped gardens, all complemented by modern facilities, are some of the features of this historical landmark in the heart of Vientiane. The 29 rooms are beautifully finished with high ceilings, wooden floorboards and beautifully crafted rosewood furniture; luxurious marble bathrooms have large baths and separate showers. In addition the Junior and Executive Suites have the added luxury of a living room with sofa and a dining table. All rooms and suites face either the gardens or the swimming pool
