Amantaka offers authentic Lao and French-influenced cuisine in a number of dining venues. The Dining Room provides an airy colonial ambience while the Lounge Bar is the perfect spot for relaxing with a pre-dinner aperitif or enjoying a snifter and cigar. The breezy Pool Terrace is a casual dining spot and serves light meals all day. Private dining can be arranged in a choice of secluded locations around the property, as well as in the privacy of guests’ suites.

There is so much in and around Luang  Prabang that should not be missed and Amantaka offers  various tours on which guests experience much of this fascinating city. On the walking tour guests  will wander through the winding streets and stop at That Makmo, Vat Xieng Thong ( Temple of the Golden City) and the National Museum which holds the Pra Bang, the namesake of the city. A visit to the Buddhist Archives can also be arranged, these contain more than 20,000 rare historic photographs taken or collected by the monks of Luang Prabang since the 1880’s. The Pak Ou Caves Tour sails the guests along the Mekong River to the caves at Pak Ou, where pilgrims have flocked for years, offering Buddha statues. One of the daily highlights of Luang Prabang is the Tak Bat (AlmsOffering), Monks and novices walk through the town every morning at sunrise to accept alms from the townsfolk. While there is a procession on Luang Prabang’s main street, Amantaka hosts a quieter and less crowded tak bat in front of the hotel.  Why not delve into the culinary experience of Lao food with a Cooking Class. Lao Cuisine is a blend of Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese food with a local influence. Guests are taken to Luang Prabang’s morning market to choose their own fresh vegetables, spices, fish, and meat, after which they are shepherded away to a nearby organic farm, where they will learn how to make their Laotian feast. Guests may then enjoy the fruits of their labours in the Dining Room or by the pool.

The Fitness facility overlooking the swimming pool houses a gymnasium and yoga studio for the more active guest . The beautiful Aman Spa has steam and sauna facilities with hot and cold plunge pools. The four treatment rooms are havens for massages and facials, scrubs and wraps all using organic products as well as local ingredients used for centuries in Lao therapeutic preparations. 

The gentle spirit of Laos thrives in Luang Prabang. The town is a patchwork of vibrant Theravada Buddhist tradition that gives rhythm to the daily life of Laotians.

Accommodation

The 24 spacious suites all feature high ceilings ,king size beds and elegant furniture; luxurious bathrooms have a separate dressing area, and a separate island bathtub. The living and bedroom both open onto an outdoor area with lounges and large umbrellas in the shade of mango trees . In addition the four pool suites have a private pool just beyond the room’s lounge. Like the Pool Suites, the eight Khan Pool Suites feature a private pool and outdoor lounge area. Named for the river that influences all aspects of life in Luang Prabang, the two Mekong Suites feature spacious interiors for lounging, dining, and sleeping. Each Mekong Suite also includes a private pool. The ultimate in luxury have to be the two stand-alone Amantaka Suites which are surrounded by large verandas and offer generous living rooms and spacious outdoor areas including a garden, a private relaxation sala and a large pool.
