The Indian subcontinent is a vast and diverse region and is home to four countries: India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka. It is a kaleidoscope of landscapes and cultures making for a rich journey for the soul and the senses which will blow your mind.  

India is the largest and most populous country in the subcontinent. It is a country of 28 World Heritage sites, majestic landscapes,  national parks teeming with wildlife, modern vibrant cities where the old is intertwined with the new. It is a land of contrasts, with ancient temples and palaces rubbing shoulders with modern skyscrapers and remote villages only accessible from sleepy backwaters. The feeling of spirituality is everywhere in India.

Nepal is a landlocked country that is home to the Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world with 8 of the world’s tallest mountains. Nepal is a serious trekking and mountaineering destination but it is also home to some of the world’s oldest Hindu and Buddhist sites. The Kathmandu Valley is filled with medieval palaces, pagodas, temples, statues and stupas. There are also tropical jungles and an abundance of fauna and flora such as tigers, rhino, elephants, crocodiles and leopards and an incredible 848 species of bird!

Bhutan, the “Land of the Peaceful Dragon” is known for its Buddhist culture and its pristine natural environment. It only opened to tourism in 1974 and is still reasonably well protected from the influences of our modern world and the traditional way of life as it has existed for centuries has still very much survived.

Sri Lanka is an island country that is located off the coast of India. Few islands in the world offer the diversity that is to be found here. From ancient cities and cultural heritage to colonial memories, to rich religious festivals and the green rolling hills of the tea plantations. The varied landscapes, pristine beaches and an astonishing  variety of bird and animal wildlife, together with 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites make a stunning combination not to be missed.
