Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa - Experience
Sitting just 56 kilometres north of the Equator in the heart of one of the largest and deepest atolls in the Maldives, Gaafu Alifu; the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is a haven of undisturbed natural beauty and privacy. Although the location is remote it is still only a 45 minute flight from the bustle of Male, followed by an enjoyable 20 minute speedboat ride to the resort.
Experience
The signature restaurant of the resort is The Island Grill where guests are taken on an extraordinary culinary journey with a fusion of dishes created from ingredients sourced from local islands. Central to the open décor is the traditional grill combined with a wood burning oven, perfect for watching the chefs at work. This is a romantic dining venue with tables and chairs set on a blanket of fine white sand, perfect for a barefoot dining experience. Open all day, the Dining Room is just metres from the beach and has spectacular views of the ocean. The a la carte menu here has delicious cuisine from around the world, with a mix of Maldivian, Western and Asian dishes on offer to tempt the discerning diner.
The pristine water around the resort has an abundance of marine life more varied than almost anywhere else in the Maldives and best of all it can be seen either from the surface of the house reef or below, which makes snorkelling and diving such a magical experience. Towering coral reefs are like luxury apartments for the fish, watch Damselfish dart about in the sunlight or glimpse Clown fish in the wavy fingers of anemones and all the while the Black and White Tip reef sharks keep a watchful eye over their territory.
Embark on a journey to one of the local islands, wander around the sandy streets, witness island life and experience first hand their relaxed pace and peaceful nature. Why not try traditional Maldivian fishing? Set out at sunset on a Dhoni and learn the technique of fishing using just a line, hook sinker and bait. If that is too hectic why not take a speedboat trip to the edge of the atoll hoping to spot dolphins jumping and spinning over the waves.
There is also plenty to while away time on dry land; spend an afternoon on a culinary journey finding out how to prepare traditional Maldivian fare or let the stresses of the world disappear by taking part in a yoga or meditation class. More energetic guests may prefer to work out using the state of the art equipment in the gym. One experience that should not be missed is the Vidhun Spa. Here freshly harvested local herbal, botanical and marine resources combine to create a holistic wellness, the pure Maldivian treatments of a Vidhun Ritual will perfect the balance of the body and make the spirit shine.
Accommodation
The outstanding design of the villas is a combination of contemporary minimalism with traditional elements, each having slanted roofs and floor to ceiling windows that allow natural light to flood in. The 16 Park Villas, constructed in native timber and stone are nestled within the lush vegetation just feet from the white sand of the beach. Sunlight shines through the windows into the bedroom, with its king size bed, while outside there is a private deck, lounge area and a luxurious private outdoor bathroom complete with bathtub and rain shower. The 20 Park Pool Villas are again hidden away and are of similar construction, but these have the added luxury of a private plunge pool. Those who prefer water will love the 14 Park Water Villas; set above the water, with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean they give individual access to the coral filled lagoon below.
