Amanera - Experience
Amanera is one of the best hotels in the Caribbean. It was opened in 2015 and is the first foray into golf courses for Aman. There are 25 free-standing hillside casitas set in almost 2200 acres on the remote north shore on the cliffs above the palm-backed Playa Grande Beach and backed by dense rainforest jungle. Amanera is centered around the main two-story building, Casa Grande, which boasts floating walkways, infinity pools and sweeping ocean views and houses the lobby, pool, restaurant and lounge bar. Down on the beach tucked into a small sandy cove is their Club de Playa which has to be one of the best lunch spots in the Caribbean!
Experience
You can do as much or as little as you want at Amanera. Activities on offer in addition to the 370 acre golf course with 10 cliffside holes include nature walks, kite-surfing, deep-sea fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, cooking classes, canyoning, tennis courts, spa, gym and even a cigar rolling evening at a nearby restaurant! The Restaurant in the main building, including a lounge and bar, provides a choice of both indoor or outdoor dining settings both maximizing the spectacular views of Playa Grande beach and the main swimming pool. There is also a Beach Club on Playa Grande serving casual beach-style cuisine including pizzas, burgers, salads, local dishes and Mexican classics between 11.00am until 5.00pm.
Accommodation
The 25 huge free-standing single storey casitas that occupy the hillside overlooking the ocean come in 6 different guises. Each offer ocean views, and 13 have their own infinity pool. Surrounded by rainforest the casitas all have both indoor and outdoor seating and dining areas and floor to ceiling windows with remote control blinds and televisions which pop up from the floor when needed!
