Shumba Camp
Shumba Camp is in the centre of the famed Busanga Plains; an area of approximately 750 square kilometres and considered one of Zambia's most important wetlands as well as a wildlife paradise with a wealth of plains game, predators and birds.
Experience
This area is home to hundreds of Red Lechwe, Puku, Roan and Oribi. Also Lichtenstein's Hartebeest, Wildebeest, Zebra and Buffalo all move onto the Plains as the dry season progresses. This wealth of game is a big attraction for predators, including wild dog, cheetah and prides of lion. In addition to this 491 bird species have been identified. The Kafue National Park has the largest number of species diversity in Zambia and night drives are also offered here.
Accommodation
Shumba Camp has six very spacious and luxurious ensuite tented rooms with both indoor and outdoor showers built on raised platforms with spectacular views of the surrounding plains. The dining and bar area is elevated so as to take in these views and each morning's sunrise; dinner takes place either here or in the cosy boma outdoor area where guests can also enjoy elements of local Zambian culture. Many meals are prepared and cooked on the fire in front of the guests enhancing the safari experience.
