Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is located in the foothills of the vast range of 15,000 foot Virunga Mountains. The lodge is named after the oldest of the 8 volcanoes in the range and is situated just a few kilometres from the entrance to the park.
Experience
The main activity here is tracking the magnificent Mountain Gorillas and coming face to face with these great apes is a moment not forgotten in a lifetime. In addition to this there are plenty of other activities on offer; Golden Monkey trekking, escorted walks, mountain bike excursions, escorted bird watching walks, visit Dian Fossey’s grave and various other cultural, lake and forest excursions. You can even have a massage here!
Accommodation
There are five double cottages, two suites and one family suite stone buildings with terracotta tile roofs, and feature large sitting areas, fireplaces, stylish en-suite bathrooms, a dressing room and a sheltered veranda. The family suite has a second bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The main lodge building with 3 large fireplaces comprises a sitting room with snug area, dining room, library, a responsible tourism / community awareness room, shop and bathrooms.
