Lango Camp - Accommodation
Lango Camp can only be combined with Ngaga Camp on a journey through the central African rainforests. Whilst the main focus at Ngaga Camp is the tracking of gorillas and gorilla research, Lango Camp offers a completely different and broader range of experiences.
The focus of safari activities at Lango is on the bais, salines, rivers and savannahs with most being a combination of walking and boating, together with some driving. In this exclusive safari camp Forest Elephants, Forest Buffalo, Western Sitatunga and Spotted Hyena are all regular visitors which can view viewed at all times of the day. Nocturnal visitors to the bai include the rare Bongo, Leopard and Red River Hog. Harnessed Bushbuck and various forest duiker species can be encountered nearby and Guereza Colobus monkeys are resident in camp. The camp is a great place for primate viewing as the Odzala-Kokoua National Park has eleven species of diurnal primates; the highest of any forest region in central Africa.
The camp consists of six ensuite tree-houses and associated main areas, inspired by the traditional designs of the regional B’Aka Pygmy groups and traditional, global rainforest cultures. Nestled in dense gallery forest, each room is overlooking the productive Lango Bai. The dining room, lounge and bar area are all on raised decks overlooking the bai with roofing of traditional woven raffia palm panels. Walkways connect the rooms to the public areas and a star deck and fire pit sit on a dropped deck overlooking the bai for after dinner vigils.
