Tubu Tree Camp

Tubu Tree Camp is based on the western side of the Okavango Delta in an area of great biodiversity offering excellent game viewing. It is one of our favourite camps in Botswana.

Experience

Tubu Tree Camp is based further to the west of the Jao Concession than its sister camps Jao, Kwetsani and Jacana and being situated on the ‘dry’ sand of Hunda Island there is more variation. Elephant, lion, zebra, red lechwe, giraffe, tsessebe, and blue wildebeest are seen out on the floodplains and kudu, impala, bushbuck and leopard are also seen in the forested areas. The variety of bird life is equally impressive, with dry-land species seen on the large islands and a multitude of wetland birds seen on the floodplains and waterways. Game drives and night drives are offered throughout the year and there are also water activities such as boating, fishing and mokoro when water levels permit.

Accommodation

There are 8 beautifully styled canvas tented rooms including a stunning family unit which comprises 2 en-suite units connected by a shared lounge area. The rooms at Tubu are built on raised platforms 2-3 metres up offering stunning views over the large floodplain in front of camp. The en-suite facilities include a double vanity unit and both indoor and outdoor showers. The main area comprises a lounge and dining room which are both built high up on raised decks and there is a walkway down to the bar under an ancient Marula Tree and the walkway continues down further to the pool almost at ground level. This is a very popular camp indeed!
