Selinda Camp - Accommodation

Selinda Camp is in the vast 320,000 acre private game rich Selinda Reserve right on the banks of the Selinda Spillway. This area is renowned for its predators and large concentrations of game and offers guests abundant game viewing privately and exclusively.

Dereck and Beverly Joubert, award-winning filmmakers for National Geographic for over 25 years have spent many years spent filming in and around the Selinda Camp area; their films have focused on the bolder animals: Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Zebra and now Leopard and, in their words, ‘because we need to focus attention on the intrinsic value of nature, and if we can't see it in Lions, Whales or Elephants, then what hope would there be for the lesser known and often far more endangered species?’ The open plains around the area make ideal habitat for Cheetah and the thicker woodlands are good for Leopard sightings , and one of Africa's most endangered predators, the African Wild Dog, is usually resident and the Selinda pack frequently dens close to the camp. Other common species include: large herds of Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Hippo, Hyena, Waterbuck, Kudu, Steenbuck, Lechwe, and Impala. Nocturnal species include Civet, Serval, Wildcat, Honey Badger, Springhares, Aardvark and Aardwolf. Daily activities revolve around morning, afternoon and night game drives with experienced, professional guides in custom-built 4x4 Land Cruisers and short walks from camp accompanied by a guide are encouraged to get to know some of the Selinda's smaller creatures.

Selinda Camp’s nine luxury tents with ceiling fans are set under cool thatch canopies and have en-suite facilities including double basins and a stone bath. There is also a lounge area and a writing desk. The extensive decking of the main area lends itself to soaking up the spectacular views and wildlife. Set apart from the main area next to the fire pit is the photo / art gallery and a temperature-controlled wine cellar with magnificent Zanzibari doors and a curio shop above. Guests may request a private romantic dinner in the wine cellar. There is also a small plunge pool for those warmer afternoons.
