At more than 12million acres the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is the largest conservation area in Botswana and the 2nd largest in the world.
While this region is famous for its outstanding wildlife throughout the year, the summer months and the advent of the rains offer some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities in Botswana. At this time of year these fossil riverbeds and verdant flatlands are alive with aggregations of gemsbok, springbok and blue wildebeest and result in good concentrations of Kalahari black-maned lions and cheetah. The abundance of predators and their prey is perfectly complemented with lush green landscapes and floral displays. The reserve is also one of the best places to see honey badgers.
